Regional Workshop on Public Sector Risk Management
Public Sector Risk Management Workshop
About The Convention
Public Sector Risk Management Workshop
Across Africa, public sector institutions operate in increasingly complex environments marked by fiscal pressure, limited resources, service delivery demands, fraud and corruption risks, procurement challenges, emerging technology risks, climate-related fiscal exposures and growing demand for transparency and accountability. Risk management is an essential public financial management capability for institutions seeking to protect public resources, improve decision-making, strengthen internal controls and deliver services more reliably. In many institutions, however, risk management is still viewed as an internal audit function, a compliance checklist or a document prepared only for oversight purposes. This practical three-day regional workshop is designed to support AAAG member countries to build a risk-aware public sector culture. It will guide participants to identify real risks in public financial management operations, assess likelihood and impact, document controls, design practical responses, assign ownership, monitor key risk indicators and prepare institutional action plans for embedding risk management in daily work.
Johannesburg, Republic of South Africa
The workshop is proposed to take place in Johannesburg, Republic of South Africa. Johannesburg was selected because of its accessibility and the availability of suitable conference facilities and logistical support that can be leveraged through the institutional network of the Office of the Accountant-General.
